Research In Motion (RIM) has unveiled three new BlackBerry smartphones featuring the newly launched BlackBerry 7 Operating System (OS).
RIM claims BlackBerry Curve smartphones, 9350, 9360 and 9370, are designed to enable customers upgrade their existing feature phone or existing BlackBerry Curve with a socially-connected smartphone, enhancing their mobile social experience.
The BlackBerry Curve smartphones feature integrated suite of phone, email, messaging and social applications for users.
The new models come with an optical trackpad, 2.44-inch 480 x 360 display, 32 GB memory cards for additional media storage, 800MHz processor, GPS and Wi-Fi support.
The new smartphones feature various hardware enhancements, including upgraded processors, displays and memory, and built-in support for NFC (Near Field Communications), a new technology that can pair accessories or read SmartPoster tags.
BlackBerry 7 encompasses BlackBerry web browser for smoother navigation and optimised HTML5 gaming and video experiences, the company said.
The phones also include a number of other pre-loaded applications and integrated functionality, as well as the Premium version of Documents To Go offering users document editing features and a native PDF document viewer.
The new phones come with BlackBerry Protect features which enable users to locate their misplaced BlackBerry smartphone using GPS or remotely turn up the ringer for an audible notification if their handset is close-by.
The BlackBerry Curve 9350, 9360 and 9370 smartphones are expected to be available in Canada this month and around the world beginning in September.
