netForensics feeds security events into HP CMDB

OpenView primed with automated updates

By CBR Staff Writer

netForensics Inc, a vendor of management software that draws security event data from network devices before correlating and analysing it, has built a bridge to link its security information management system into HP’s Universal configuration management database system.

The development will mean netForensics will be feed security and compliance data to the CMDB so that the information can be made available to the entire stable of HP OpenView.

The enhancements to the nFX SIM One system will mean configuration, change and patch management or root cause analysis data can be siphoned into enterprise systems management processes so that accurate, up-to-date information on infrastructure and application relationships are automatically maintained across the software controls.

The move also promises much better integration with helpdesk products such as Remedy, which should edge up the efficiency with which service desk teams open and close trouble tickets.

In a separate announcement, netForensics has said it has acquired the assets of former rival High Tower Software, which failed in the downturn and had closed its doors in November.

The company said nothing about the deal other than it would enable it and its managed security services provider partners to provide security compliance offerings throughout the lifecycle, including security information and event management, database activity monitoring and log management.
