NComputing releases updated version of vSpace Server

vSpace Management Center should reduce administrative costs by allowing managers to maintain and control their virtual desktop environment.

By Amy-Jo Crowley

Desktop virtualisation firm NComputing has launched its new version of vSpace Server to improve productivity for IT departments and enable users to work wherever they are on any device.

The California-based company, which provides desktop virtualisation as an alternative to PC computing, said the vSpace Server 7.1 should enhance user experience by extending support to Windows 8, Windows Multipoint Server 2012 and Windows Server 2012 platforms.

Other features include a vSpace Management that should reduce administration costs by enabling organisations to centrally manage tens of thousands of desktops running on client systems from NComputing.

The management centre also allows IT departments to maintain and control their desktop virtualisation platform on PCs, laptops and also BYOD wherever they are.

Raj Dhingra, CEO of NComputing, said the new release demonstrates the company’s commitment to make desktop virtualisation cost-effective for businesses.

He added: "By offering support for the latest Windows environments, users can continue to rely on NComputing technology to grow and adapt to their emerging business needs."

NComputing, which has 20 million daily users in 140 countries, has taken the cost of deploying virtual desktop infrastructure down to the equivalent cost of a standalone PC.
