Taiwan-based computer manufacturer MSI has launched a new netbook, Wind12 U200, powered with new Intel Consumer Ultra Low Voltage (CULV) processor. The company claims that the new netbook utilises the CULV platform’s low power consumption capabilities while delivering high performance and extended battery endurance.

The new netbook weighs 1.4 kg with battery and features a 12.1 HD ready 16:9 aspect ratio crystal frameless screen.

The Wind12 U200 features an HDMI output port that provides 5GB bandwidth for data transmission, allowing it to connect with an LCD TV or other multimedia device. It also features the MSI developed Ergonomic De-stress (EDS) keyboard. The contact surface of every key has been increased by 51% for comfort and fluid typing action, the company said.

According to the company, the Wind12 U200’s 6-cell battery can achieve 6.5 hours of endurance in ECO Turbo Battery mode, which is three times longer than traditional 12 notebooks.

The new offering reportedly comes with Easy Face, MSI’s independently developed face recognition software. Easy Face is designed to provide security and protection of users’ data with 3 functions: Easyface Manager, Autolocker, and Logon.

Easyface Manager uses the Wind12 U200’s built-in 1.3 megapixel webcam to record the user’s image so that Easyface Autolocker and Easyface Logon functions can apply biometric safety measures to access and lock the user’s U200, thus creating protection for his personal information.

The new netbook also comes with 3 new webcam applications from MSI: Webcam Companion, Visual Effect2 and Print Creation. These applications give users the freedom to edit, quick print, and immediately share images taken with their webcam.
