M&S will use the product at 16,000 point of sale (POS) systems to enforce Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard (DSS).

The system works by allowing only approved applications to run on a network and restricts access to the network to devices that have been approved.

This announcement coincides with Bit9 opening its first office in the UK. The new office is located in Docklands, London.

Bit9 Parity enables organisations to automatically whitelist applications and devices on their network. Any application not whitelisted will not deploy on the network. Bit9 says this will help companies reduce the risk of malware attacks.
