Motorola Mobility Holdings won a ruling against Apple in a patent dispute in Germany after a court there ruled in its favour.
The Manheim court found Apple guilty of infringement of one of Motorola Mobility’s cellular-communications patents and was granted an injunction.
Apple’s London spokesman Alan Hely said they were going to appeal the court’s ruling right away. "Holiday shoppers in Germany should have no problem finding the iPad or iPhone they want," Hely stated.
However, in order for Motorola Mobility to enforce the ruling, it can pay a bond of €100 million. The cash would cover for the potential damage it could cause Apple.
Motorola Mobility senior vice president and general counsel Scott Offer said that they were pleased with the court’s ruling. "Today’s decision validates Motorola Mobility’s efforts to enforce its patents against Apple’s infringement," Offer added.
There are several patent cases pending between the two companies in Germany.
