Motive Systems said that by providing a Windows Explorer interface, the new version software enables users to open and save files directly from any Windows application. It also offers a ‘virtual local’ drive that provides advantages in performance over web-based alternatives or systems that use traditional mapped network drives by allowing users to work from their local hard drive while a caching mechanism synchronises with the server in the background.
The company said that the new version also comes with an expanded compatibility with MS Office products and AutoCAD, including enhancements for Outlook with support for saving an email and attachments directly as a multi-file document, and M-Files menu and features such as ‘Insert Property’ in PowerPoint as have been available in Word and Excel.
