Monotype Imaging Holdings, a provider of text imaging products, has enhanced its FlipFont mobile font download product to support the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic and N97 phones, and the Samsung Omnia HD i8910 model. The three touchscreen phones, in addition to the Nokia E52, E63 and E65-NG models, bring the total number of FlipFont supported handset brands to 52.

Additionally, 10 mobile-optimised fonts have been added to the FlipFont collection, enabling users to choose from a total of 29 fonts to personalise the look of their phone’s user interface, menus and various applications, the company said.

The new capabilities are reportedly the latest in a series of FlipFont evolutions, aimed at allowing mobile consumers across the globe to use a growing selection of fonts. Also, new to the FlipFont collection is the Soho Gothic typeface, designed to achieve legibility.

John Seguin, executive vice president of Monotype Imaging, said: Once again, we’ve taken a significant step in advancing FlipFont to reach more users while also enhancing our palette of mobile typefaces. FlipFont allows consumers to use fonts that are simply fun to use. Our plan is to continue to add device support and introduce an ongoing stream of new fonts.

In June, the company expanded FlipFont availability to Europe and the Americas through direct access on supported phones from FlipFont.mobi. Prior to that, the product was available in the UK, first through Vodafone UK and its Vodafone Live! multimedia portal, followed by mobile operator 3 UK, which allows users to access FlipFont from the 3 UKpersonalisation homepage.
