Microsoft announced today that it will roll out Windows Phone 7.8, the next OS update for Windows Phone 7, to as many devices as possible in early 2013.
Windows Phone 7.8 upgrade will provide users with a new start screen, as well as 10 new theme and accent colors, the Bing Picture of the Day lock screen feature and new apps, including Angry Birds Space and Angry Birds Star Wars.
Windows Phone corporate vice president Terry Myerson told: "We know you’re eager to get the Windows Phone 7.8 update, and we want you to know that we’re working closely with our hardware and carrier partners to get it tested, approved, and rolled out to as many devices as possible in early 2013."
Microsoft has announced Windows Phone 7 users will not be upgraded to Windows Phone 8, but it will offer them a limited update to Windows Phone 7.8.
In addition, the company is also planning to bring some of the features of Windows Phone 8 to older Windows Phone 7 devices such as the Nokia Lumia 800.
