Microsoft is making Cortana available for iOS and Android.
The intelligent personal assistant, which is currently available on Windows Phone, will be extended to other mobile platforms as part of the Windows 10 Phone Companion.
Cortana will appear on these devices as an app for download, providing most of the system’s features such as notifications.
"One of the things we’re doing that’s new in Windows 10 is enabling you to have the world’s only personal digital assistant in Cortana, and we’re building Cortana right into your Windows 10 PC."
"We’re also going to enable all Windows 10 pc users to take the intelligence of that Cortana assistant with them onto not just their Windows Phone but also their Android or iPhone as an app you can install on one of those devices."
Cortana was first demonstrated in 2014 and is now available in beta in the UK, US and China. Alpha versions of the software are available in Australia, Canada, Germany, India, Italy and Spain.
This is the latest announcement about Windows 10, the latest generation of the Windows operating system for PC, which is slated to appear in mid-2015. It aims to unify Microsoft‘s various product families, including Windows PC, Windows Phone, Windows Embedded and Xbox One.
