Microsoft launches Outlook.com

Allows users to send hundreds of photos and videos at a time.

By CBR Staff Writer

Microsoft has launched ‘Outlook.com’, its e-mail service with added features, six months after launching the "preview".

Features of Outlook.com include the ability to send hundreds of photos and videos at a time in a single email and address books that automatically update new contact information as it changes on social media sites.

Outlook.com senior director, Dharmesh Mehta, said: "We are trying to push people who have gotten lazy and comfortable with an email service that may not be all that great and help show them what email can really do for them."

Outlook.com will be compatible with both Windows-based devices and Apple-based machines while there will be an application for Google’s Android mobile-operating system.

The users of Microsoft’s Hotmail and other email services operating under different domains, such as MSN.com, will automatically beconverted to Outlook.com by the summer 2013. Old messages, contacts, addresses and settings will be exported to Outlook.com.

Outlook.com claimed that since it was introduced in summer of 2012 it has about 60 million users.
