Microsoft has added new features and enhanced support to its Azure Mobile Services Platform for Apple’s iPhone and iPad.
Microsoft’s Azure Mobile Services Platform will allow developers to store planned data in the cloud, incorporate it with user confirmation, and deliver updates to clients through push notifications.
Earlier, Microsoft had previewed Azure Mobile Services with support for Windows 8, the software maker’s new operating system, with assurance of further support for Windows Phone, Apple’s iOS and rapidly for the Android devices.
Further, the firm has also plans to add the ability to also authenticate clients using social networking sites including Facebook, Twitter, and Google permissions.
A new service that enables users to send emails through Mobile Service has also been added by Microsoft in collaboration with SendGrid.
The firm has also added a new Twilio’s REST API to the Platform that allows sending SMS messages to app and through the collective use of Twilio and Windows Azure, the Windows Azure users receive 1000 free text messages, the company claims.
Twilio CEO Jeff Lawson said with the Windows Azure Mobile Services platform, Microsoft is providing developers with enhanced cloud based tools for mobile apps.

Initially, the Windows Azure Mobile Services were supported in the US East region of Windows Azure, while users can now create their Mobile Service in the West US region.
