Paris-based mobile analytics provider Capptain has been bought by Microsoft.
The French start up specialises in push notifications based on customer usage patterns.
Founded six years ago, Capptain helps in analysing behaviour of mobile app users and helps in tailoring targeted and timely messages to ensure better customer service.
Omar Khan of Microsoft said the company understands the power of mobile apps and has made significant investments in cloud services that power mobile app development.
"Capptain will bring a vital new element to our end-to-end story for mobile app development – real-time user and push analytics. With Capptain’s solution, organizations can analyze customer and employee behavior in real-time, and respond by pushing targeted messages, announcements, information or offers," he said.
"This information empowers organizations to provide personalized, specific content to their customers in order to maximize business opportunities."
Following the acquisition, Microsoft will be integrating Capptain’s solution with its Microsoft Azure suite of services.

The company said it will help enterprises build mobile apps to engage customers and employees, as well as analysing and optimising that engagement.
Financial details were not disclosed.
