Microsoft’s Enterprise Mobility Suite (EMS) will now be available in Open Licensing.

Microsoft announced in its blog that from 1 March, EMS will be offered through Microsoft’s model which is designed for use by corporate, academic, charitable and government institutions.

Previously it had only been available as part of an Enterprise Agreement with Microsoft.

Open License allows users to add additional products to a two-year agreement once they have purchased five software licenses. The addition of EMS to Open Licensing will allow distributors and resellers to see additional cloud services to small and medium enterprises.

It was also announced that Microsoft Action Pack subscribers will have access to EMS and Azure AD Basic as part of their Internal Use Rights.

"We’ve seen the consumerisation of IT bring an exciting new set of challenges and opportunities for our partners," Gavriella Schuster, General Manager, Worldwide Partner Group, commented in the blog.

"With BYOD becoming a commonly accepted practice in many companies, some customers are evolving from models that focus on single, corporate-owned devices toward people-centric models that let their employees access the corporate applications and data they need on whatever device they are using," she added.
