Patches fix critical issues related to remote code execution in latest versions of Internet Explorer and Microsoft Office.

By CBR Staff Writer

Microsoft has released its final Windows XP Patch Tuesday update to fix critical issues related to remote code execution in latest versions of Internet Explorer and Microsoft Office.

The latest edition of security update addresses about eleven vulnerabilities in Microsoft products including IE browser, MS Office Services and Web Apps.

Of the overall patches, two of them are rated as critical fixes, with the other two are categoriesed as important updates.

The first of critical patches deals with recent zero-day affecting Microsoft Word and Office web applications and users of Office 2003, 2007, 2010, 2013 (both x86 and RT) versions and Apple Office for Mac are suggested to install patches.

In addition Microsoft’s other critical fixes include a collective security update for IE browser versions 6 to 11 on Windows XP throughout Windows 8.1 and RT.

Considered to be an important fix for all non-server versions of Windows, the update would fix about six flaws that put the targeted systems vulnerable to remote code execution.
