Metso signs IT infrastructure deal with Fujitsu Finland

New service scope to streamline Fujitsu's accountability into service integration to include end-to-end management of third party service requests

By CBR Staff Writer

Engineering and technology company Metso has signed an agreement with ICT company Fujitsu Services Oy on IT infrastructure services for Metso’s sites in Finland.

Fujitsu said that the contract, which was signed at the end of August, marks a continuation to a long-standing collaboration which dates as far back as the 1990’s.

The first Patja agreement that incorporated all Metso sites in Finland was sealed in summer 2003.

The Patja service model, known as the 4114 service at Metso, provides end-to-end services for 8,000 workstation users at Metso’s 60 sites in Finland.

Metso Group IT vice-president Pauli Nuutinen said, "We have been happy with the service. In particular, Fujitsu has succeeded in productising its service provision. Although key people have changed along the way the basic concept has proved strong and there has been no disruptions in the service."

Fujitsu said that along with the new contract, the user support service will assume a more extensive responsibility.

It added that the new service scope will expand and streamline Fujitsu’s accountability into service integration to include end-to-end management of third party service requests.

This will be of considerable help to Metso staff, as they will no longer have to call multiple places on the same problem.

Metso has around 29,000 employees in 50 countries.

The service also incorporates production workstations, said Fujitsu. The new contract is also flexible in expanding the service to cover Metso´s international operations, it added.

"During our years-long collaboration it has become evident that our business cultures match well. Also user feedback has been predominantly positive," Nuutinen said.
