McAfee and Adobe Systems have formed a global alliance partnership to jointly deliver new offering that will offer comprehensive security to both companies’ customers.

The companies said that together they will deliver an integrated Data Loss Prevention (DLP) and Enterprise Digital Rights Management (DRM) system. The combination of McAfee’s data classification with Adobe’s document protection will allow organisations to secure critical business information such as intellectual property or regulatory compliance data.

The companies claim that with the new offering, organisations can ensure that access control to information is applied based on classification of the data and enforce corporate governance policies to reduce information loss.

As part of the partnership, McAfee has made a free diagnostic tool, McAfeeSecurity Scan, available as an optional download to customers when installing Adobe Reader and Adobe Flash Player software. The McAfee tool enables consumers to check for anti-virus software and firewall protection on their computers. When the scan is complete, users get a report detailing the presence and status of security protection.

Gerhard Watzinger, general manager of data protection business unit at McAfee, said: We are excited about the potential that this partnership can bring to our joint customers and partners. By combining our efforts in the way information is handled and secured, our customers’ data will be better protected.
