McAfee revamps All Access cross-device protection application

The new release enables consumers to monitor how devices are protected

Computer security firm McAfee has released the new version of its integrated cross-device security product for PCs, Macs, smartphones and tablets, All Access 2013.

The new release features a consolidated dashboard that claims to help consumers to monitor how devices are protected, invite family members to install protection on their devices as well as come with free technical support.

McAfee All Access includes one central location to install and manage mobile, data and system security as well as family protection to safeguard different devices allowing them to experience a safe online regardless of device or location.

It also includes new McAfee SiteAdvisor Social software that color-codes risks that appear within social networking sites for guidance and safety access.

The new social software adds safety ratings to browser and search engine results helping protect consumers from the Internet’s suspect URLs.

McAfee All Access features a vulnerability scanner detects vulnerabilities in the operating system and in installed apps. It also includes a redesigned user interface that supports new touch-friendly devices with easier layout and faster navigation.

In addition, the 2013 release will enable users to take advantage of mobile privacy enhancements including a call and SMS filter, as well as an app privacy alert feature.

McAfee Consumer Business Unit senior vice president and general manager Steve Petracca said as cybercriminals continue to penetrate through new and multiple attack vectors, consumer reliance on Internet-connected devices and the data stored on them has also skyrocketed.

"Cross-device protection, therefore, has gone from being a nice-to-have to an absolute essential," Petracca said.

"And McAfee All Access enables consumers to get the optimal protection they need with an even greater level of ease and simplicity."

The company has also launched a new portfolio of consumer PC security suites, including McAfee Total Protection 2013, McAfee Internet Security 2013 and McAfee AntiVirus Plus 2013, all of which feature a redesigned malware detection framework with enhanced detection and cleaning capabilities.
