McAfee introduces ePO Deep Command

Allows adoption of power management programs to conserve energy without compromising security

By CBR Staff Writer

Security technology company McAfee has introduced an extension of its endpoint security management offering to provide customers with secure and remote security management access to PCs that may be powered off or disabled.

The Intel Active Management Technology (AMT) enables McAfee ePO Deep Command to provide secure remote access regardless of the PC power state so that IT administrators can remotely remediate the compromised systems. This enables "green" security initiatives, wake and patch systems, as well as apply proactive security.

With the Intel AMT Alarm Clock feature, McAfee ePO Deep Command gives security administrators full control to power on PCs and executes security tasks.

McAfee ePO Deep Command can send any number of security tasks to an endpoint which allows the security administrators to quickly assess the necessary steps needed to remediate the endpoint, allowing the user to get back to work faster.

McAfee ePO Deep Command benefits allows IT administrators to manage powered-off or disabled PCs to execute security updates and enable remote remediation of security issues; lowers security costs and improves IT service levels with immediate access to endpoints regardless of network access.

In addition, McAfee ePO Deep Command allows adoption of power management programs to conserve energy without compromising security.

McAfee product management senior vice-president Brian Foster said McAfee ePO Deep Command enables security administrators to quickly respond to disabled PCs with a remote call for help functionality to ensure proper security is in place to protect against today’s fast propagating threats.

"McAfee ePO Deep Command allows enterprises to reduce the cost of security operations and manage endpoint security beyond-the-operating system," said Foster.

Intel Business Client Platforms general manager and Intel Architecture Group vice-president Rick Echevarria said McAfee ePO Deep Command and Intel Core vPro processors provide a compelling security management offering that enables malware detection and removal regardless of the PC’s power state.

"Together, Intel and McAfee are providing powerful workflow capabilities for IT to quickly define and deploy more secure computing environments as well as respond to events and issues as they arise," said Echevarria.
