Magic Software announced today that its uniPaaS application platform can be used to create fully functional rich business applications for mobile users.

Development of Rich Internet Applications (RIA) for business is a growing trend among IT shops looking for responsive feature-rich application interactions that can be accessed from any location.

Magic said the latest version of uniPaaS RIA now fully aligns Windows Mobile devices and handsets with application features and capabilities so far exclusively supported on PCs.

It claims with the new uniPaaS 1.8 release that it is possible to create rich Internet business applications which maximise the capabilities of the client platform user interface to create application user interfaces with a superior look and feel.

This will enhance the quality of business communications and also help boost productivity for workers on the move like sales force, field technicians and engineering staff.

Companies are starting to develop and deploy rich Internet business applications on-premise or in the cloud as a means of enhancing the end-user experience, the company confirmed.

It said that unlike client-side only platforms like Microsoft Silverlight, with uniPaaS there is no need to write different code for the client, the server and the session/communications layer. This significantly reduces overall development costs and instances of mistakes that cost much more to correct after deployment.

Support for multiple deployment modes allows enterprise development teams to simply switch between deployment modes, be it SaaS or an client-server application.

The latest version of uniPaaS RIA comes with a ready-made business application metadata engine, which saves time writing code, while .Net integration allows enterprises and ISVs to deploy applications created at any point in the past, whether for DOS or early versions of Windows, on modern .NET supporting systems such as Vista and Windows Mobile devices.

uniPaaS V1.8 is available immediately, the company said.
