Internet threat protection company M86 Security has released WebMarshal version 6.9 featuring the integration of M86 VuSafe service.
M86 VuSafe is a video library to enable educational establishments to find, tag, organise and share online videos from YouTube while preventing access to inappropriate videos and removing advertisements, viewer comments and external links.
Without compromising security or student safety the teaching staff and students can make useful online videos available on the Internet with the combination of M86 WebMarshal with VuSafe, said M86 Security.
The company said Information and communications technology (ICT) co-ordinators can secure and manage Internet access, prevent data loss and comply with acceptable use policies and regulatory requirements with the help of M86 WebMarshal, a software-based secure Web gateway offering.
Apart from providing granular control over how users access social networking sites, M86 WebMarshal 6.9 includes a default policy to make managing access to social networking sites even simpler, said the company.
M86 Security said customers in the education sector will also be able to share approved online videos with their students via M86 VuSafe. With M86 Vusafe’s intuitive design and built-in policies teachers can easily manage content libraries for their own classroom or to share/borrow from other educators.
M86 Security senior product manager Ed Rowley said student safety and regulatory compliance are of utmost concern for school authorities and at the same time, educators need the freedom to tap the wealth of valuable information found on the Internet.
