LynuxWorks has introduced a new rootkit detection system, the RDS5201, at the Gartner Security and Risk Management Summit being held in London, UK.

Built on the LynxSecure 5.2 separation kernel and hypervisor, new system offers rootkit detection capability that supports traditional security mechanisms to provide protection from the increasing number and complexity of cyber threats.

RDS5201 is claimed to directly detect low-level, zero-day rootkits that are considered to be lethal payload of most APTs, while the system is also combined with visual forensic data.

LynuxWorks Cyber Security Solutions vice president Avishai Ziv said that the threat from rootkits is becoming more prevalent, as exploit kits are commercially available and are easier to use.

"The normal endpoint and network-protection mechanisms simply cannot prevent, or even detect, them until it is too late and hence the need for a new type of security product, such as the RDS5201, to help give early warning for these threats as they infect our enterprise networks," Ziv said.

Additionally, the RDS5201 serves as a smart proactive sensor from APT attacks in IT networks and lowers the detection time of APTs.
