Lulzsec hacker warns about Sun emails; says he is on the run

Sabu fears his own friends will take him down, after recent arrests of alleged members

By CBR Staff Writer

Erstwhile leader of the hacking group LulzSec has disclosed that the group is sitting on lot of interesting stolen data, including those from British tabloid Sun and HSBC, but added that he is on the run after the recant arrests of some fellow hackers.

In an interview with Reddit, ‘Sabu’ said that the cache of emails, which LulzSec claims it had stolen during a hack attack earlier this year, is stored on a Chinese server, waiting for the appropriate time to be released.

He tweeted "there are a lot of interesting dumps we’re sitting on due to timing," according to the Guardian.

Sabu said that the group has broken into banks including HSBC and "a few others" but that they have "no smoking guns yet" in the data.

Sabu added that following the recent arrests in the UK and US of a number of people alleged to have been involved with LulzSec, he is on the run.

"I’m past the point of no return. Not trying to sound like a bad ass, however, it’s the truth," he wrote.

Sabu hinted that some members are helping authorities in the crackdown.

He said, "The ironic twist will be that my own friends will take me down, and not these idiots who hide behind the patriot veil."

Sabu added that "technically, I’m on the run, so there you go."

However, the erstwhile leader believes LulzSec hacking exploits "exposed the sad state of security across the media, social, government online environments."
