The official website of 2012 London Olympics has reportedly been blocked in Iran preventing access to the site in the country.

Internet users in Iran posted on Twitter that they could not connect to the london2012.com portal and are instead redirected to peyvandha.ir, which is a site run by Iranian government offering stories from official agencies, according to BBC.

The blockediniran.com website has also confirmed that Iranian users will not be able to access the official website for the 2012 Olympics.

Last March, Iran has threatened to boycott the London Olympics Games over claims that the logo spells the word ‘zion’, representing a veiled pro-Israeli conspiracy.

Almost four years after the logo’s launch in 2007, Iran called for the design to be changed, though later Iranian athletes said they would participate and play gloriously in London Games.

Iran has started to block access to internet including Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, and President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has also discussed plans to build a "clean web" within the country through its own search engine and messaging system.
