Line App to hit 200 million users by this month

Line, a subsidiary of South Korean Internet search provider NHN, is anticipating that users of its instant-messaging app may reach 200 million by the end of July 2013.

The firm is targeting its subscribers to reach 1 billion, while the app had 180 million registered users by late June, Bloomberg reported.

The app can be used in PCs and mobile phones, including smartphones powered by Google’s Android and Apple’s iOS software.

Featuring cartoon characters and other ‘stickers’ that users can include in chat messages, the application allows users to send photos and make free voice calls both nationally and internationally, regardless of mobile network provider the user is connected with.
