Italy-based portal and Internet service provider Libero is implementing cloud computing software and service provider Joyent’s SmartDataCenter services to launch the on-demand public cloud offering.

With Libero’s public cloud, businesses and developers can access a full line of cloud-based offerings, running applications faster and can access real time infrastructure resources with a pay as you go pricing model.

In addition, businesses and developers can allow Libero to run their infrastructure while they focus their human and capital resources on their main line of business and will find that their infrastructure stays up 100% of the time.

SmartDataCenter enables more efficient use of compute, I/O and network resources; businesses benefit from these efficiencies by paying less for their Libero infrastructure than for other competitive providers and provides local, resilient storage.

Joyent EMEA president Philippe Weppe said the relationship combines the strength of Libero’s IT and online service capabilities with Joyent’s cloud computing infrastructure.

"Customers will benefit greatly from the efficiency, flexibility and quality of the Libero cloud," said Weppe.

Libero CEO Antonio Converti said Libero wishes to serve clients with any type of cloud computing need.

"Our service also excels at providing highly scalable, performant and efficient computing resources on a temporary basis, such as for massive data analysis, research and development projects, or peek data processing times at month’s end," said Converti.
