Marking its foray into wearables, LG Electronics has released its smart watch, G Watch powered by Google’s Android Wear operating system.

LG G Watch will be powered by a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor and sport an ‘Always-On’ 1.65-inch IPS display, which will consume less power.

Paired with smartphone via Bluetooth, LG G Watch can displays messages, show who’s calling, control music play-back and do other tasks without requiring users to fish out the smartphone every time for these tasks.

The company says the smart watch will sport a button less design and "Glance-able" interface which can be operated through voice command.

With voice recognition feature, users can send text messages and search information by just by saying, "Ok Google".

It has 4GB of internal memory and 512MB RAM and the ‘Always On’ LCD IPS display will offer a screen resolution of 280 x 280 powered by a 400mAh battery.

LG G Watch will come with Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity, inbuilt sensors like 9-Axis (Gyro / Accelerometer / Compass) and will be compatible with smartphones running Android 4.3 operating system and above.

LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company president and CEO Dr. Jong-seok Park said, "As one of the first to market with Android Wear, LG wanted to develop a product that functions as an essential companion device but most importantly, was simple to use."

"We wanted a device that would be simple to learn and so intuitive that users wouldn’t even have to think about how to use its features. That’s what the LG G Watch is all about."

It will weigh 63g and will be available in two colour, white gold and black titan.

The frame of the watch is made of coated stainless steel which the company said is designed to make it dust and water resistant for up to 30 minutes up to a depth of one metre.

It comes with a silicone wristband which can be personalised with any standard 22mm strap available in the market.
