Land Registry is safe as houses with Perot Systems

IT services provider Perot Systems has teamed up with Civica to provide application development services to Land Registry. The contract will last for three years.

By Steve Evans

Land Registry is a government department that keeps and maintains the Land Register for England and Wales via a database of over 21 million properties.

The deal will see Perot Systems and Civica support Land Registry’s extensive in-house IT department by offering a range of technical and specialist skills and offsite application development.

John Wright, IS director, Land Registry, said: The framework provides a flexible and robust model for resourcing that enables us to respond quickly to the demands of our key programmes. Blending internal and external delivery will provide the ability to meet requirements efficiently, whether small or large. In particular, we’re very keen to share smarter development practices between the different teams and enhance our overall capabilities. We’re excited at the prospect of pursuing innovative projects knowing they are supported by the flexible resourcing model we have put in place.

Udayan Kelkar, VP EMEA at Perot System, told CBR that the deal will see Perot offer the flexibility the Land Registry needs to enable it to embark on ambitious projects. We are providing Land Registry with the opportunity to use our expertise to improve time to market and other business benefits, he said.

It is possible the deal will be extended or expanded if both parties are happy with the result, Kelkar added. He said: It’s difficult to predict how needs will change, and we’re just looking to add as much value to Land Registry as possible. We’ll be happy if we meet our targets.

Kelkar added that Land Registry was one of the most high profile wins the company has had outside the US. In January 2008, Perot Systems signed a contract with credit information group Experian.
