Kroll Ontrack, a provider of data recovery and legal technologies products and services, has launched PowerControls version 5.2.
With a new, flexible licensing option and enhanced search, preview and restoration capabilities, the latest version of the tool provides IT administrators with the ability to easily and efficiently search, locate, restore or consolidate Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 sites and individual documents stored on SharePoint sites, the company said.
The new version includes a full-site restoration/copy or export functionality, which has the ability to drag and drop a full sharepoint site into a new or existing sharepoint server at the site level or export a full site to a hard disk location. It also has the ability to search for items at granular level and preview them prior to restoration and also saves users time by providing them with more targeted and relevant search results.
The new version features compatibility with the current versions of SQL and sharepoint, which enables IT teams to easily address both internal and general IT environment requirements, ensuring compliance with policies and market best practices.
In addition, Ontrack PowerControls is available via a new, centralised licensing model, which provides scalability by offering a ‘pack license’, that eliminates the need to identify all licenses at the time of purchase and gives administrators the ability to reserve and deploy IDs as their needs grow and change, the company said.
Jim Reinert, vice president of product development at Kroll Ontrack, said: “As SharePoint grows in popularity as a content management and collaboration application, so do the cases where items or sites need to be located, restored or consolidated for business critical operations such as internal investigations, document migration, compliance or site cleanup.
“The new version of Ontrack PowerControls is a complete restoration tool for SharePoint site content. Its functionality allows you to locate what you need quickly, and perform restorations or site consolidations in a fraction of the time.”
