Kofax Express will enable the city to digitize an average of 70,000 pages per month of new resident registration documents at 30 different customer service locations.

The implementation of Kofax Express is expected enable the city to electronically capture the multitude of documents that are required as part of Lausanne’s detailed residency application process. These include application forms, visas, passports and other legal documents with content in multiple formats and languages.

The Kofax system is also being leveraged to scan incoming mail using bar code labels for indexing and sorting.

Kofax Express provides features like real-time image viewing, automated indexing using bar codes, “key from image” data entry capabilities, JPEG, TIFF and PDF output formats and flexible release scripts to Microsoft’s SharePoint and other repositories.

Andrew Pery, chief marketing officer of Kofax, said: Kofax Express offers a highly practical batch capture solution for the city of Lausanne by reducing complex labor-intensive, paper-based processes at the front-end. Staff will be able to process and record applications quickly, efficiently and accurately, which translates into enhanced productivity, lower operating costs and, most importantly, better customer service.
