Enterprise content management (ECM) provider KnowledgeTree has released version 3.7 of its commercial edition, version 1.1 of its Microsoft Office add-in, and an alpha release of KnowledgeTree Explorer CP (cross platform).
The company claims that its 3.7 release deployed on Zend Server, features enhanced performance and tests indicate that KnowledgeTree runs up to 40% faster through the inclusion of Zend Optimizer.
The company has also introduced the iteration of its new Content Management Interoperability Services (CMIS) interface, which is compliant with the 0.61 draft of the specification. By using web services and Web 2.0 interfaces to enable rich information to be shared across internet protocols, CMIS is expected to enable interoperability among ECM systems.
According to Knowledge Tree, the features and enhancements of the 3.7 release includes a new thumbnail and instant view document preview functionality that allows users to see, search and scroll through documents before downloading them from the KnowledgeTree repository. With support for Microsoft IIS 6 & 7 on Windows 2003 and 2008 server, KnowledgeTree installer will enable administrators to install to an existing Microsoft IIS web server.
In addition, server-based, MSI, RPM and DEB installer packages will allow installation and maintenance of the stack using standard package management technologies on Microsoft Windows and Linux OS; and setup wizard will automate installation, configuration and upgrades and removes the need for command line interaction.
The Microsoft Office Add-in integrates with Microsoft Office 2007. An OpenSearch interface allows users to share search results generated within KnowledgeTree with other applications and helps search engines and users communicate requests and syndicate results, the company said.
KnowledgeTree Explorer CP is a cross-platform version of desktop tool that allows drag and drop functionality to the repository. An alpha period for KnowledgeTree Explorer CP is expected to give customers the opportunity to test and comment on the offering.
