KnowledgeLake has introduced X-Series, a new SharePoint-based enterprise content management (ECM) product that is said to be suitable for small and medium sized document imaging market.

According to the company, the new ECM product includes a one-touch facility that installs and configures SharePoint. The application suite is expected to operate in a Windows Server 2008 environment with Windows SharePoint Services (WSS) 3.0 as the ECM repository. The user experience would be delivered through a Silverlight application running in parallel with WSS 3.0.

The new ECM product also features DocEncrypt technology, which provides an application for encrypting data on electronic or paper documents. DocEncrypt allows users to select a zone on the page of any TIFF or PDF file and encrypt or decrypt that zone with a password.

The company stated that its new ECM product will be packaged for three different deployment models (hardware appliance, virtual appliance and software), allowing partners and customers to choose a model that is suitable for their current infrastructure.

Chris Caplinger, chief technology officer of KnowledgeLake, said: “The X-Series will extend the native capabilities of SharePoint with a powerful suite of applications that will allow users to capture large quantities of mission critical documents and transform them into easily consumable business information.”
