Couchbase has released a new version of database platform that will integrate with mobile, and IoT applications for modern businesses.
The NoSQL database provider said that the new update will allow for easier global application deployments, advanced security capabilities and greater development flexibility.
The Couchbase suite currently includes, Couchbase Server 4.6 which boasts improved security and built in support for rich data structures, Couchbase Sync Gateway 1.4 which provides unlimited integration of IoT and mobile devices, Couchbase Kafka Connector 3.0 which allows streaming between Apache Kafka and other programs, and Couchbase Spark Connector 2.0 which can be used to continuously analyse operational data.
Kafka Connector 3.0 is designed to provide greater scalability and will allow for data topics from Kafa to be persisted directly into Couchbase Server. 
The Spark Connector 2.0 addition provides support for Apache Spark 2.0 and its structured streaming API. The idea behind this is to help users to continuously analyse operational data, while also serving as both a Spark Structured Streaming Sink and Source.
With the growth of IoT, the company says that it has seen increasing demand for its software and is currently in use by global brands such as Mariott, Amadeus, and United Airlines.
Ravi Mayuram, Couchbase senior vice President of engineering and products said: “With foundational technologies like these, we make it easy to automate the complex challenges that our customers face around managing globally distributed environments, massively scaling mobile and IoT applications on demand, and natively integrating big data solutions like Kafka and Spark with Couchbase.”

The reason for the update is that the rise of Web 2.0, the IoT, and other data heavy advances has seen the demand for analysis of masses of data skyrocket. The improved platform includes a includes a server database, a native mobile database, a synchronisation gateway and Big Data and SQL integrations to properly manage the huge amounts of data business collect each day.
