Kaspersky Lab has expanded its virtualisation security application portfolio with addition of Kaspersky Security for Virtualisation-Light Agent.
Designed for Citrix XenServer, Citrix XenDesktop and Microsoft Hyper-V, the new application is said to decrease the consumption of system resources by offloading security functions to the hypervisor layer.
The security application will include its cloud assisted anti-virus along with firewall, host-intrusion prevention systems (HIPS), and granular controls for applications, devices and web administration.
According to the company, the security application is designed to increase the operational efficiency of virtual infrastructures by eliminating the resource impacts associated with running traditional agent-based applications on each virtual machine.
The scanning and associated security functions of the applications will be controlled by a security virtual machine deployed on each physical host, the company said.
The application is currently under development by Kaspersky Lab and will be available for beta-testing during next fall.
Kaspersky Security for Virtualisation-Light Agent is said to allow complete integration with the Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Business and can be implemented in different companies starting from SMBs to large Enterprise environments.
