Security company Kaspersky Lab has claimed that it detects and blocks about 200,000 new malicious programmes every day during the second half of this year compared to last half.
During last half of this year the company had detected about 125,000 malicious programmes every day, according to annual Kaspersky Security Bulletin.
The company claimed to have to have blocked three billion malwares including 2.7 million unique developments in the malwares and unwanted programmes, and 1.5 billion web based attacks used against the computer users.
Among the mobile malwares detected, 99% of them are targeted at android platforms and during the year about 35,000 malicious programmes were found to be designed for Android platforms, which is about six times more than last year.
There was also an increase in Mac-specific malware even if there was 30% increase of Mac Trojans detection signatures compared to 2011.
Oracle Java is reported to be the weakest platform, with 50% of the cyber attacks exploited vulnerabilities in the platform, followed by the Adobe reader with 28% of attacks and Adobe Flash with 2% of the attacks.
The US has topped the list of ’31high risk’ countries that hosted most infected files with 25.5% of cases followed by Russia, Netherlands, Germany and the UK, where about 56-75% of the users are attacked online.
Kaspersky Lab Director of Global Research & Analysis Team Costin Raiu said that what 2012 has shown is the strong inclination of cybercriminals to steal data from all devices used by consumers and businesses, be it a PC, Mac, Smartphone or tablet.
"We are also observing a strong increase in the overall number of threats, affecting all popular software environments," Raiu added.
