Juniper Networks and the performance company Riverbed Technology have signed a technology partnership in wide area network (WAN) optimisation, application delivery and mobility.
Under the terms of the agreement, Juniper Networks will license Riverbed’s application delivery controller (ADC) technology for approximately $75m.
The technology partnership will enhance Juniper’s capabilities in key network domains across the enterprise, including in the data centre, across WANs, consumer and business devices.
In addition, the two companies will work together to integrate Riverbed’s Steelhead Mobile technology into the Juniper Networks Junos Pulse client to provide a mobile acceleration application for mobile phones and tablets.
Riverbed and Juniper Networks will work in tandem to offer WAN optimisation services to their respective customers and the partnership will enable both companies to strengthen their respective application acceleration application sets.
Juniper Networks Software Solutions Division executive vice president Bob Muglia said Riverbed’s application acceleration and WAN optimisation applications will complement its strategic focus on delivering high-performance networking infrastructure.
"Our joint efforts with Riverbed will enable us to push the future of application networking," Muglia said.
