Juniper Networks has launched the JunosV Contrail family of products for the software-defined networks (SDN), which claimed to reduce the time, cost and risk of delivering new network and security services.
The product family includes JunosV Contrail Controller, an open standards-based controller for SDN built on the technology Juniper acquired from Contrail Systems.
Juniper Networks Software Solutions Division executive vice president Bob Muglia said that the customers are looking for agility in their networks.
"With JunosV Contrail, Juniper will deliver a network infrastructure that meets customers’ immediate and long term needs," Muglia added.
According to the company, JunosV Contrail family of products will offer a virtual network application that combines with data centres to centralise control across different client IT architectures and multiple cloud platforms.
The application virtualises the network to allow seamless automation and orchestration among private and public cloud environments, elastic management of IP-based network and security services, the company said.
Scheduled to be available by the second half of 2013, the new JunosV Contrail family claimed to offer a quick way to deliver and manage networking as a service, elastic management of IP-based virtual network and security services, API support for new virtualised services to automate and control the network.
