US District Judge Lucy Koh, has refused Apple’s request to increase the $1.05bn damages awarded to it by a jury last August.
Koh said Samsung did not wilfully infringe on some of Apple patents and denied both companies’ requests for a new trial in the case.
"To the extent that Apple does address lost downstream sales, Apple discusses only Samsung’s gains and makes no attempt to identify any specific losses Apple has suffered," said Koh
The judge has also denied Apple’s motion for Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 10.1 patent that relates to its iPad design.
Apple has had several setbacks in various legal trials with Samsung after winning $1.05bn damages.
Last month, Koh denied Apple’s request to ban 26 Samsung products from selling and said Apple had failed to prove the infringing products affected its sales.
In October last year, Apple lost its patent case against Samsung in London’s Court of Appeal after a judge ruled that the Galaxy tablet does not infringe upon the iPad design.

Last week, however, the US International Trade Commission (ITC) said it will review a preliminary ruling that Samsung infringed Apple patents to produce smartphones and tablets.
