Joyent, a provider of cloud computing offerings, said that it has acquired Vancouver-based Layerboom Systems, a provider of software virtual server management tools for hosting providers and enterprise companies.
Joyent said that the acquisition of Layerboom Systems will expand it’s cloud infrastructure services to customers by adding new virtualisation technology for Windows and Linux operating systems.
It will also help its cloud computing users to enjoy the benefits of both the cloud-optimised Joyent SmartOS and legacy Windows and Linux platforms in their application architectures.
According to Joyent, the acquisition will transform its computing offerings into a comprehensive infrastructure-as-a-service and platform-as-a-service offering on the market.
In addition, Layerboom Systems, open-source virtual server cloud management offerings provides multi-tenant administration system that enables flexibility and agility in managing virtual private server cloud build out and maintenance.
