More jobseekers are searching for employment via their mobile devices, according to a job search website.

Totaljobs.com said the number of people visiting its site through their mobile devices has increased by nearly half since October 2012, rising from 23% to 34% of its overall visitors.

The number of people completing their applications using their mobiles has also increased by 68%, which the company attributes to its integration with Google Drive earlier this year.

The most popular devices to connect with were the iPhone and iPad, accounting for 40% and 25% of mobile device searches respectively.

Director John Salt said: "The continued evolution of mobile technology is driving the use of mobile devices as part of a jobseeker’s recruitment search. We book holidays and buy Christmas presents online, now people are also finding their next jobs.

"Using mobile for job hunting is only going to grow in the years to come."
