Jive and Okta team up to integrate technology platforms

The companies have partnered to integrate identity management services with cloud based communication.

Jive Software and Okta, the identity management service, have announced a strategic partnership to integrate Okta’s enterprise-grade identity management service with Jive’s cloud-based communication and collaboration platform.

This aims to further extend how businesses and their employees work more effectively and securely in the cloud. Jive’s customers can access Okta’s enterprise-grade identity management service at no additional cost.

Tony Zingale, chairman and CEO of Jive, said: "Okta and Jive are building out the new cloud stack, which allows any business to take advantage of best-of-breed tools that are tightly integrated, easily accessible and are truly changing the way people work. "This powerful partnership and product combination allows people to more securely and effectively communicate and collaborate in this new world of work. We couldn’t be more pleased to offer Okta to our customers and the broader market."

Jive’s customers are now able to easily integrate Jive with Microsoft Active Directory and other corporate LDAP directories without the need to modify or open up the corporate firewall. This enables customers to centrally manage end-user identities for Jive, and gives people secure access to a number of business apps in the Jive platform. IT departments can also benefit from Okta’s centralised user management capabilities to easily provision and de-provision Jive to end-users.

Jive has also revamped its social directory to give its customers a 360-degree view of fellow employees, including details on how they are connected within the organisation, professional experience and areas of expertise. In the next few months, Okta will offer the ability to synchronise this information along with rich personal profiles created on Jive across other cloud applications, enriching the kind of information organisations have about their users and eliminating the need for profiles to be populated and managed separately.

Todd McKinnon, CEO of Okta commented on the partnership: "By bringing the power of Okta to Jive, we’re not only accelerating secure deployments of its platform, but we’re also increasing user adoption and enabling more efficient ways of working across entire companies. Okta makes the transition to Jive seamless for all Jive and Okta customers – scaling with their long-term identity management needs and enabling libraries of business applications to work together. These features are just the first you’ll see as a result of this partnership with Jive."
