About 45.1% of Android devices use the Jelly Bean version of OS including 4.1.x and 4.2.x until 4th September 2013, according to the distribution data from Google.

The share of devices based on the Jelly Bean version increased in August compared to 40.5% share occupied by the OS version last month this year.

According to the statistics revealed by the company, Android Jelly Bean 4.2.x powered about 8.5% of the devices and the 4.1.x was used by 36.6% devices for the month.

The distribution data also revealed that the Android 2.2 Froyo powered 2.4% of devices during the month, while the Android 2.3.x Gingerbread was present on the 30.7% devices representing a 2.4% points decrease compared to the previous month.

During August 2013, the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich was reported to be used by 21.7% devices a 0.8% points decrease against the prior month’s share.

Google is also planning to release new devices that would run on the Android 2.3 and Android 4.0 versions and has announced to launch the next version of OS, Android 4.4 or KitKat in October this year.
