Isis to roll out mobile commerce application across US

The launch follows the trial of the mobile commerce application in Austin, Texas and Salt Lake City, nine months ago.

By CBR Staff Writer

Isis, the joint venture of AT&T Mobility, T-Mobile US and Verizon Wireless, has revealed plans to roll out its new mobile payment service across the US in late 2013.

The Isis Mobile Wallet uses near field communication (NFC) technology to enable users to pay, redeem coupons and present loyalty cards using their smartphone.

The launch follows the trial of the mobile commerce application, which started last October in Austin, Texas and Salt Lake City, Utah.

Isis CEO Michael Abbott said the company has created hundreds of partners dedicated to making mobile commerce during the past nine months.

"As part of our commitment to consumers, we are incorporating feedback from our pilots into the next generation of the Isis Mobile Wallet as we prepare for national availability later this year," Abbott added.

Currently, 35 mobile devices from the AT&T Mobility, T-Mobile US and Verizon Wireless support the use of Isis and the number is expected to grow.

The company is planning to launch the iPhone, Windows Phone and Blackberry 10 supported versions of the mobile ecommerce application in late 2013.
