Ipswitch’s Network Management Division has launched its comprehensive log management software offering — WhatsUp Log Management v10.

The IT management offerings provider said that the new offering is easier to use, more intuitive and more comprehensive than ever before. The company also claimed that the offering provides an out-of-the-box security and compliance tool for businesses of all sizes.

WhatsUp Log Management v10 provides over a hundred pre-packaged reports organised according to government and industry regulations. Once selected by managers, the reports are compressed and delivered to secure directories in accordance with FIPS 140-2 cryptographic standards to prevent unauthorised viewing, said the company.

Ipswitch Network Management Division president Ennio Carboni said with WhatsUp Log Management v10, businesses of all sizes can ensure compliance across systems, secure their network perimeter with comprehensive Syslog support, monitor end-user activity to quickly detect internal threats, and protect key assets in a cost effective manner.

Carboni said, "Through protecting log files with FIPS 140-2 hashing – the strongest commercially available – we allow businesses to make use of log data and in cases where needed, prove that their logs haven’t been tampered with and remain compliant."

The company said the key features of WhatsUp Log Management v10 include: seamless Syslog support; new pre-built compliance-centric reports; new support for IIS/W3C log formats; and new add-on resources.

The company said that users with large disparate networks can set a customisable flood control to ensure the volume of logs generated does not get overwhelming and only focus in on the most relevant information.

"WhatsUp Log Management v10 integrates seamlessly into WhatsUp Gold so that businesses can manage availability, performance and log management information from a single pane of glass," added Carboni.
