Apple’s launch of new iOS 7 mobile software drove the web traffic to unprecedented levels in the UK and Germany.

Mixpanel’s latest report revealed that by early Thursday about 130m Apple device users had updated their devices.

The research firm also projects that traffic from iOS 7 devices would surpass that of iOS 6.

According to BT Retail the traffic levels were at the highest ever seen, within 20 minutes of the release, traffic rose over 200GBPS.

Germany’s Internet Exchange reported a rise of over 10GBPS as the software was available for download at 7pm local time.

Reports suggest that at least one third of all compatible iOS devices have already installed the new, revamped software just 24 hours after its launch.

Boasting an upgraded user interface, the new OS comes with several new features such as Control Center, Notification Center, enhanced Multitasking, AirDrop and revamped Siri, among several others.

The new OS also incorporates iTunes Radio, which is a free Internet radio service based on the music listened by users on iTunes.

The new OS is available for download as a free software update for Apple’s existing models including iPhone 4, 4S and 5, in addition to iPad, and iPod devices.
