iOS 7 flaw allows avoiding passcode, access Photos app directly

Apple assured to fix the issue in its future software update

By CBR Staff Writer

A new security loophole in Apple’s latest iOS 7 enables users to avoid the passcode on any device powered by the new OS and lets directly access Photos app, as well as user’s email and social networking accounts.

According to hacker Jose Rodriguez, Control center, which includes new settings and utility app shortcuts, can be deployed to evade the passcode lock that enables users to defend their devices via a 4 digit code.

The flaw would allow launching Clock app from the control centre and hold the iPhone’s power/ screen lock button till they see Slide to power off button at the top and Cancel button towards the bottom.

Hackers would also gain access to the Photos app via the Camera app, while would also launch access to the user’s Messages, Mail, Twitter, Facebook and Flickr accounts via the sharing menu.

The latest security glitch affects Apple iPhone devices including 4S and 5, while the new 5S and 5C remain unaffected.

Designed for both iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C, the new iOS 7 boasts an revamped user interface and several new features, including Control Center, Notification Center, enhanced Multitasking, AirDrop, improved Siri, among several others.
