INQ Mobile to launch two new 3G handsets

Comes with Twitter and media sync capabilities

By CBR Staff Writer

UK-based mobile phone maker INQ Mobile plans to launch two new 3G mobile phones with Twitter and media sync capabilities.

The two new 3G phones INQ Chat and INQ Mini, which are aimed at the mass market, allows users to access Twitter, Facebook, Skype and Instant Messaging.

INQ said that it is also introducing media syncing between its devices and PCs. The software, powered by doubleTwist, allows users to sync music from iTunes and Windows Media Player. The new phones also allow users to sync video and photos.

The company said that popular internet applications are embedded within the underlying software to deliver benefits such as native messaging and an address book that consolidates phone contacts with those from relevant applications.

According to INQ, both phones support up to 8GB of memory and have plug and play HSDPA modems, enabling wireless broadband on PCs and Macs. The INQ Chat comes with a 3.2 megapixel camera, built-in GPS, 2.4-inch QVGA TFT landscape display and Brew 4.0 and Java MIDP 2.0 for application development multitasking. The INQ Mini 3G comes with 2.2-inch QVGA TFT landscape display and has a 2.0 megapixel camera.

Frank Meehan, CEO of INQ, said: “We build phones that focus specifically on what people want to do most on mobile, and deliver it at a price point that’s easy for consumers and profitable for operators. We have completely broken the vice grip hold that high-end smartphones had on great mobile internet experiences, and made them available to everybody.”

The INQ Chat 3G and INQ Mini 3G will be available in Q4 2009.
