Infrax releases mobile device based on Android Platform

Incorporates encryption technology to securely manage voice calls and data

By CBR Staff Writer

Infrax Systems, a provider of unified Smart Grid-related products and services for the energy and utility industries, has released an encrypted, secure communications device based on Google’s Android platform for mobile voice and data applications.

The company said that its Android based secure phone will provide users with the ability to securely manage voice calls and data. It uses a peer-to-peer connection for communicating between devices, thereby eliminating a central network hub for potential eavesdroppers to aim a single point of attack.

Infrax Systems said that its device provides secure VoIP mobile communications, provided both corresponding parties use their encryption enabled devices. Calls are handled via the Internet using Wi-Fi, HSDPA (3.5G), UMTS (3G) or EDGE (2.5G) networks.

Currently, the secure phone is available in three configurations; Government, Industrial and Business. Applications designed for Utilities will be available in the near future, the company said.
