Infosys banks on Ireland fintech with 250 new jobs

News: Firm will double workforce in the country.

By Charlotte Henry

Infosys will double the size of its Irish workforce, creating 250 new jobs in Ireland, with a focus on fintech.

95 employees will be based in an R&D centre, to be set up by the firm’s Product subsidiary EdgeVerve Systems. Using an open innovation model it will work with customers, technology partners, academic institutions and start-ups on areas such as blockchain and analytics.

It will be Infosys’ first dedicated product-centric R&D centre outside of India.

155 roles will be in a new development centre, offering financial services to clients both in Ireland and globally with high-end IT consulting, business analytics, business processing and customer service.

Dr. Vishal Sikka, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Infosys said: "Infosys is already working with clients in Ireland helping them explore new ways of working and advancing, by embracing technology-led innovation. We want to build on this early success. With an ecosystem of like-minded partners in Ireland, we will pursue new ideas and new ways to solve the greatest challenges of our times."

The development has supported by the Irish Government’s Department of Jobs via IDA Ireland, which aims to attract foreign direct investment to the country.

Taoiseach Enda Kenny TD said, "This is a vote of confidence in Ireland, our great workforce and our reputation as a hub for technology and innovation."
