Informatica, a provider of data integration software, has released a free Data Quality Checkup tool designed to help customers assess the health of their data.

Informatica said that the new checkup tool enables organisations to start building a business case and strengthen current discussions for investing in data quality. It provides data analysis, data cleansing, data matching, exception handling and reporting and monitoring capabilities to manage data quality across the enterprise.

The company said that the new data quality software fosters collaboration among business information owners and IT team members on defining data quality dimensions, building data quality scorecards, collecting data quality business rules, reviewing data quality results, and managing exceptions.

According to Informatica, visitors to the checkup website can upload a sample of their data and analyse results from a web-based data profiling report. Once a user uploads data securely, it is encrypted, processed on-site and stored on the Informatica server. Informatica data quality product specialist profiles the data and emails the customer a link to the data profiling report.

Ivan Chong, general manager of data quality at Informatica, said: Using our checkup tool offers users an easy way to be introduced to data quality and the significant difference it can make to operational efficiency and the bottom line. Data quality is not just for the IT department, but needs to be pervasive throughout the entire organisation, inside and outside corporate firewalls.
